The Utah Certified Public Manager(R) program is now available online!
We are pleased to announce that we are offering both Courses 1 and 2 in Winter Term (beginning January 7, 2019). All modules in Courses 1 and 2 are available on the web using the Canvas platform (the same platform used by our public higher education institutions). Course 3 requires three onsite meetings in addition to online coordination, including presentation of the team capstone project. Most courses are facilitated by Ron Vandermyde. Ron is our most experienced CPM instructor, having more than 20 years experience in the program and a wealth of experience working closely with many government agencies and leaders.
We are excited to offer this program to individuals who find it impractical to travel great distances, who are unable to spend a full day away from the office, or who may have other reasons to find this a beneficial format.
The objectives and rigor of the program is equal to the in-class courses. In fact, participants in the online program are not required to complete elective hours. All course content and certification requirements are contained within the online format. Participants should expect a fair amount of reading, writing, assignments and communicating with an online presence. Participants and their supervisors must be aware that if the agency is paying for the course, participation is considered work time. Employees who are under the overtime provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act may need to be especially vigilant.
