State employees have Monday, June 20, 2022 off in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday. For over 150 years, Juneteenth has been celebrated across the country to commemorate the day enslaved Black Americans in Texas first learned of their emancipation by the proclamation made by Abraham Lincoln. Proclamation 95, was a presidential proclamation and executive order issued on January 1, 1863, during the Civil War.
