State employees can choose from five different dental plans:
PEHP Preferred Choice has a small deductible and a low premium.
PEHP Traditional has no deductible, with a bit higher premium than the Preferred Choice plan.
Regence Expressions offered through Regence of Utah, does not have a deductible and offers a national network of providers. This plan has the highest premium of the five plans offered.
Basic HSA Dental this plan has no premium, and has an employer HSA contribution. This plan has less coverage than the three plans above. You must be on either the STAR or Consumer Plus medical plans to be eligible for this plan. There is a three year waiting period before you can go back to the PEHP Traditional, PEHP Preferred Choice, or Regence Dental plans once you are enrolled in this plan..
Discount HSA Dental this plan has no premium, and has a larger employer HSA contribution. This plan does not offer any dental coverage, but it gives the employee access to discounted rates if the employee uses a PEHP in-network provider. You must be on either the STAR or Consumer Plus medical plans to be eligible for this plan. There is a three year waiting period before you can go back to the PEHP Traditional, PEHP Preferred Choice, or Regence Dental plans once you are enrolled in this plan..
Dental Opt Out
Employees who have dental coverage from another carrier are able to opt out of the dental plan and receive cash in return. See the PEHP Benefits book for more details.
